This role directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department, including hiring and disciplinary functions. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning/directing work, and ensuring work is completed in a safe and efficient manner. The position involves assessing ongoing maintenance projects, determining work priorities, and directing maintenance activities. The mechanic will ensure safe working conditions and work procedures are followed, communicate equipment and job order status, and update the Electronic Preventative Maintenance system. They will analyze Preventative Maintenance data to modify the program, analyze equipment manuals to create meaningful Preventative Maintenance schedules, and read electrical and hydraulic prints. The role requires troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, filling out required paperwork and work orders, and possessing knowledge of various equipment such as hoists, processing machines, air compressors, sump pumps, and exhaust fans. Welding skills are also required, along with the ability to train others. The mechanic will order parts as needed, maintain a clean and orderly department, and collaborate with the Purchasing department and other department supervisors to improve operations.
