This role is responsible for completing light maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner. Special precautions must be taken when working in patient/resident care areas, ensuring tools are kept out of reach of children. The position requires advanced mechanical knowledge, competence with various tools and devices, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical manuals. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic acts as a resource for staff, assists management, and performs quality inspections to ensure work orders are completed according to engineering standards. The role emphasizes safety, morale, and efficiency, requiring the ability to evaluate and perform various building and equipment repairs. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential for accurate troubleshooting and explanation of conditions. The mechanic must be able to work all shifts and hours as scheduled, comply with all corporate and facility policies, and understand written and verbal communications. Advanced tasks are completed independently with minimal supervision. A working knowledge of local, state, and federal codes, specifications, and ordinances is necessary. Depending on facility size, additional duties may include installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems (including boiler operations), campus grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair. On-call duties may also be required.

Requirements

  • Advanced mechanical knowledge
  • Competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges

Responsibilities

  • Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and bed repair and maintenance (depending on facility size).
  • Perform on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.
