This role is responsible for completing light maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner. The mechanic must take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and specifically keep tools out of reach of children. The position requires advanced mechanical knowledge, competence in using various tools and devices, and the ability to work from blueprints and technical manuals. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic acts as a resource to staff, assists management, and performs work quality inspections to ensure adherence to engineering practices. The role emphasizes safety, morale, and efficiency, requiring the ability to evaluate and perform repairs on building systems and equipment. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential for accurate troubleshooting and explanation of conditions. The mechanic must be able to work all shifts and hours as scheduled, comply with policies, and understand written and verbal communications. Advanced tasks are completed independently with minimal supervision. A working knowledge of local, state, and federal codes is necessary. Additional duties may include installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems (e.g., boiler operations), campus grounds maintenance, and general duties in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair. On-call duties may be required.
