About The Position
FortNine is seeking a Senior Magento Developer to help build, scale, and maintain the eCommerce platform that powers one of Canada's leading Powersports retailers. This role combines advanced Magento development, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps automation. You will work across Magento 2 development, Google Cloud Platform, Cloudflare, GitHub Actions, and Bash automation to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing eCommerce solutions. As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to technical strategy, mentor developers, and help drive best practices across development, infrastructure, and deployment processes. You will own the full lifecycle of a modern eCommerce platform, from development through deployment and scaling.
Requirements
- 5 - 8+ years Magento 2
- Strong expertise in PHP (OOP, design patterns)
- Strong expertise in Magento architecture and extension development
- Strong expertise in REST / GraphQL APIs
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Cloudflare (CDN, WAF)
- CI/CD and deployment automation experience
- Advanced experience with Git & GitHub
- Advanced experience with GitHub Actions (or similar CI/CD tools)
- Advanced experience with Bash scripting
- Strong experience with MySQL
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL
- Strong experience with Database performance optimization
- JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
- Linux systems
- Understanding of distributed/cloud architectures
- Strong problem-solving ability

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Magento 2
- Build custom modules, themes, and APIs (REST / GraphQL)
- Optimize Magento performance, scalability, and architecture
- Troubleshoot complex production issues
- Ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure code
- Architect and manage Magento deployments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Configure and optimize Cloudflare (CDN, WAF, caching, DNS)
- Monitor system performance and uptime
- Manage repositories, branching strategies, and pull requests in GitHub
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Enforce code quality through automation and reviews
- Support release management and deployment processes
- Develop Bash scripts to automate deployments and releases, environment setup and configuration, maintenance tasks and cron jobs
- Support DevOps workflows with custom automation scripts
- Design and optimize databases: MySQL (required), PostgreSQL (preferred)
- Tune queries, indexing, and scalability
- Implement caching (Redis, Varnish) and search optimization (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
- Implement security best practices (WAF, patching, compliance)
- Ensure system reliability, uptime, and disaster recovery
- Maintain secure integrations and data handling
- Mentor junior developers and guide best practices
- Collaborate with product, UX, and DevOps teams
- Participate in system architecture and technical strategy
