About The Position
VDS is recruiting a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to bring AI onto the factory floor of a maritime defense production division. The role involves building a platform that turns inspection, root-cause, and document problems into working AI tools. The engineer will design and operate the end-to-end ML platform, build model serving across cloud, edge devices, and the shop floor, create AI workflows with human review, integrate with PLM, MES, and ERP systems, and establish model governance and drift monitoring while sharing on-call duty.
Requirements
- 8+ years building production software.
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with MLOps, Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, Docker and Kubernetes, time-series data, and monitoring.
- U.S. Person required for export control.
Nice To Haves
- Secret clearance preferred.
- Manufacturing or OT systems experience.
- Computer vision or OCR.
- Airflow or Flyte.
- CUDA or TensorRT.
- Retrieval-augmented generation.
Responsibilities
