About The Position

As part of Atlassian’s DevAI team, the Senior Machine Learning Engineer will help innovate core intelligence solutions for developer AI products. The role involves integrating large language models, engineering prompts, and developing end-to-end AI features using current technologies. The engineer will work with scientists, software engineers, and partner teams across the company to deliver developer AI products. The role combines product problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration with hands-on design and development of LLM-based methods and algorithms. It includes data preprocessing and feature engineering, experimentation and performance evaluation, implementation and optimization of machine-learning pipelines, and monitoring and maintaining deployed intelligence solutions. The engineer is expected to communicate technical concepts effectively and stay current with advances in machine learning and AI.

Responsibilities

Identify complex challenges and develop creative solutions that advance product capabilities and functionality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and software engineers, and build sustainable partnerships across technical disciplines.
Communicate technical details effectively and contribute ideas and solutions in technical discussions.
Stay updated on research and advances in machine learning, AI, and relevant technologies, and apply them to product innovation.
Design LLM-based methodologies and algorithms tailored to product needs.
Perform data preprocessing and feature engineering to improve product inputs and performance.
Run experiments and evaluate product performance using metrics and testing methods to verify design specifications.
Implement and optimize machine-learning pipelines.
Monitor and maintain deployed intelligence solutions to ensure their accuracy and efficiency.
