About The Position
Apple’s Language AI team, part of LUMIN&CE AI within Core Intelligence in Apple Services Core Data & Intelligence, builds generative AI and agentic capabilities that teams across Apple Services use to create, understand, and deliver content to customers worldwide. The team takes ideas from early prototypes through production, supporting millions of users and billions of transactions across hundreds of countries and dozens of languages. In this role, you will design, develop, and improve generative AI and agentic capabilities, including reusable services and APIs that partner teams can adopt and scale across products, content, and markets. You will work hands-on with large language models and build agents that reason, plan, use tools, and review and improve their output. You will define quality expectations, create evaluations, and help translate new ideas from generative AI research into production capabilities. You will also help deploy features, code, data, and models, collaborating with engineers, researchers, language experts, and partner teams to ensure quality and performance across Apple platforms and languages.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- Hands-on experience building applications with large language models.
- Experience with machine learning or natural language processing techniques and related projects.
- Experience building scalable data pipelines, platforms, and production services.
- Passion for building products customers value.
Nice To Haves
- Experience building agentic features, such as tool use, planning, and multi-agent workflows.
- Experience with prompt optimization, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning.
- Experience designing evaluations for generative systems, including LLM-as-a-judge.
- A track record of taking generative AI capabilities from prototype to production, ideally as platforms or services used by other teams.
- Curiosity about language and culture; fluency in a language besides English is a plus.
- Master’s or PhD preferred.
