Senior Low Observables (LO) Mission Systems Integration Engineer

Boeing•Berkeley, MO
•$136,850 - $185,150

About The Position

The Senior Low Observables (LO) Mission Systems Integration Engineer will lead design, integration, analysis, test, and production activities for low-observable materials, structures, apertures, sensors, and radomes for mission systems supporting Boeing’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) platforms. The role calls for strong technical leadership, independent execution of complex tasks, advanced use of computational electromagnetic (CEM) solvers, and the ability to produce and defend technical results with minimal oversight. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions on schedule and within cost, while ensuring engineering processes, quality standards, and configuration control are followed. The position requires an active U.S. Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access. Relocation is available based on candidate eligibility. This position is not contingent upon a program award.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering focused in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering; Computer Science; Data Science; Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry; or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • At least 9 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with LO materials and technologies across integration, design, manufacturing, and/or testing.
  • Active Top Secret clearance; a U.S. clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access; U.S. citizenship is required for this access.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
  • Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, including scattering, reflection, transmission, polarization, and aperture/antenna fundamentals.
  • Proficiency using computational electromagnetic solvers to design and optimize LO systems.
  • Advanced data processing and analysis skills, such as MATLAB or Python, for simulation and measurement data; solver workflow scripting and automation experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills, including experience producing and defending test plans and technical reports.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and deliver results with minimal oversight.
  • Direct experience with antennas, apertures, sensors, and/or radomes in design, testing, or research.
  • Hands-on experience with anechoic chamber measurements, near-field/far-field antenna testing, or RCS measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with LO materials, including absorbers, coatings, and RAMs, surface treatments, and aerospace-relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with optimization routines, sensitivity studies, and scripting for batch simulation and data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, interface control, and test and evaluation cycles.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and leading multidisciplinary technical efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, modeling, and analysis of LO materials, coatings, structures, and integrated mission systems to meet signature-reduction and performance requirements.
  • Use CEM solvers to model antennas, apertures, radomes, and LO treatments, and perform design optimization and trade studies.
  • Integrate LO treatments with mechanical, thermal, and sensor/antenna system constraints, and identify and mitigate producibility, testability, and sustainment risks.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee laboratory and field tests, including anechoic chamber measurements, antenna/radome characterization, and RCS measurements.
  • Lead data collection, reduction, and validation activities.
  • Develop and validate predictive models, reconcile simulations with measurements, perform uncertainty quantification, and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
  • Produce test plans, test reports, technical memoranda, design reviews, and customer briefings.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering processes, quality standards, and configuration control.
  • Collaborate with structures, materials, manufacturing, RF/antennas, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated system solutions on schedule and within cost.

Benefits

  • Eligible employees may enroll in benefit programs generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid and unpaid time away from work; availability depends on eligibility factors.
  • Boeing 401(k) with dollar-for-dollar matching contributions up to 10% of eligible pay and immediate 100% vesting.
  • Student Loan Match through the Boeing 401(k) for eligible enrolled U.S. employees.
  • Potential signing bonus for eligible and qualified external candidates.
  • Relocation based on candidate eligibility.
  • Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.
