About The Position

Guidehouse is looking for a Litigation Paralegal Specialist to join our growing litigation and investigative support practice area. In this role, you will support the Department of Justice, guiding customers through the complexities of data proliferation and the evolving technical and legal challenges of eDiscovery. The Litigation Paralegal Specialist provides professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support, assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation, particularly for the Employment and Civil Litigation teams. Your responsibilities will include performing research, locating responsive information, identifying relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles, and synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use. You will also review case material to identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation. While work products are reviewed before submission, you will develop these products with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines.

Requirements

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TOP SECRET federal security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain SCI clearance.
  • FIVE (5) or more years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Successful completion of Law Degree or Paralegal Studies / Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; organizing exhibits, and assisting with trial.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent Documentation Skills.
  • A general knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources is desired.
  • Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys.
  • Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs.
  • Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.
