About The Position

Guidehouse is looking for a Litigation Paralegal Specialist to join our growing litigation and investigative support practice area. This role will support the Department of Justice, assisting with the complexities of data proliferation and the growing technical and legal challenges of eDiscovery. The Litigation Paralegal Specialist will provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support to litigating teams, assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation. Specifically, this role will support the Employment and Civil Litigation teams by performing research, locating responsive information, identifying relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles. Responsibilities include synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use, and reviewing case material to identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation. Work products will be reviewed prior to submission, but the Litigation Paralegal will develop these products with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines.

Requirements

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI)" security clearance once onboard with Guidehouse.
  • FIVE (5) or more years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Successful completion of a Paralegal Certificate.
  • GED or High School Diploma.

Nice To Haves

  • Law Degree or Bachelor's degree in legal studies or related program.
  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; organizing exhibits, and assisting with trial.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.
  • General knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources.
  • Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys.
  • Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs.
  • Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent Documentation Skills.
