About The Position

Thompson Law is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney to lead the litigation docket in their Fort Worth, Texas office. This senior role is for an experienced trial lawyer who wants to focus on trying cases, shaping strategy, and building within a supportive firm structure. The attorney will manage case strategy from filing through verdict, conduct first-chair trials, and lead a dedicated support team including paralegals, medical records specialists, legal assistants, and closers. The focus will be on strategy, depositions, mediation, and courtroom activities.

Requirements

  • Texas License: Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • 8+ years of litigation experience, with substantial personal injury experience (plaintiff or defense).
  • Proven ability to value cases, set settlement parameters, manage a robust docket, and direct support staff.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes legal environment.
  • Persuasive communication skills in writing and verbally.
  • Comfortable with legal research databases, case management software, and modern litigation technology, including responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer some first-chair jury trial experience and have a real appetite for the courtroom.
  • Experience with catastrophic injury, wrongful death, commercial trucking, or premises cases.
  • A record of verdicts and settlements you're proud to talk about.
  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the litigation docket by driving strategy on liability, coverage, damages, and valuation for personal injury cases from filing through resolution.
  • Conduct first-chair jury trials, argue dispositive motions, handle hearings, and lead mediations.
  • Manage discovery and motion practice, including drafting pleadings, motions, and written discovery, and taking/defending depositions of parties, experts, and treating physicians.
  • Direct settlement strategy by setting minimum settlement parameters, approving demand packages, and conducting negotiations and mediations.
  • Supervise and develop support staff and mentor junior attorneys, setting standards for excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Serve as a trusted client advocate, advising on strategy, progress, and settlement/trial decisions with clarity and compassion.
  • Partner with firm leadership to refine litigation strategy, share trial insights, and contribute to firm growth.
