About The Position

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support one of the Department of War's (DoW) most critical high-performance computing environments at Stennis Space Center, MS. This role involves providing Linux Systems Administration expertise to ensure DoW scientists have reliable access to critical resources. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a mission-driven environment and lead a team of talented Linux professionals. A hybrid work schedule is available, requiring candidates to reside within commuting distance of Stennis Space Center, MS, and be on-site 3 days per week. A U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance is preferred, and an Interim Secret clearance is required prior to start.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start.
  • One of the following Linux certifications prior to start: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, or LPIC-1.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain Interim Secret eligibility prior to start (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Extensive experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite administration.
  • Hands-on experience developing automation using Ansible.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with technical teams, users, and others.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting Department of War (DoW) or other federal government customers.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and enterprise storage solutions.
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) to automate system administration tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level administration of RedHat Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Perform systems enhancement, configuration, maintenance, installation, and software upgrades.
  • Lead a team of high-performing Linux administrators, providing guidance, technical expertise, and project leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, sharing lessons learned and best practices.
  • Maintain and manage the Enterprise Satellite server, ensuring it meets the organization's software deployment and updates needs.
  • Automate routine and complex tasks using Ansible, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels, adhering to established policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
  • Identify and address performance issues and optimize the production environment for mission-critical systems.
  • Perform acceptance testing of modules, subsystems, and total systems.
  • Responsible for software installation, configuration, and ensuring adherence to configuration guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation and records to demonstrate adherence to regulatory requirements.
