About The Position

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is seeking an attorney to join the Contracts and Acquisitions unit within our office of Legal Counsel. As Senior Legal Counsel in the Contracts and Acquisitions unit, your responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing contracts, inter-agency agreements, grants, requests for proposals, other legal agreements and procurement documents. You will also be responsible for negotiating contract terms with vendors and state and local entities, exercising legal judgment and a disciplined analytical approach. This role involves overseeing Contracts and Acquisitions staff, working collaboratively with other ODM staff, and exercising judgment to elevate appropriate topics to Chief Legal Counsel and others. Additionally, you will draft and review Controlling Board submissions, provide legal advice and guidance regarding government procurement and contracting processes, rules and regulations, and serve as a legal liaison to the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. You will also be responsible for researching and drafting legal opinions, memoranda, and other legal documents. The preferred candidate will possess strong legal analysis skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to work collaboratively and independently.

Requirements

  • Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code
  • 18 months experience as licensed attorney

  • Must provide own transportation. Or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
