About The Position

The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and oversight across a broad range of corporate, compliance, and employment-related matters. This role partners closely with business leaders to deliver practical, risk-based legal solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and support organizational objectives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position leads contract review and negotiation, manages legal risk, oversees compliance programs, and supports dispute resolution, including directly handling legal disputes and claims where appropriate, in addition to coordinating with external counsel and global stakeholders as needed. This role also requires effective coordination with key external stakeholders, including insurers, regulators, and other third parties, and supports the review and preparation of corporate governance documents, including board and member-related materials.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
  • Licensed to practice law in good standing in the state of Georgia or any other jurisdiction
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Minimum of 7 years legal experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

  • Excellent business and legal judgment, as well as a superior ability to assess risk and determine priorities based on that risk assessment and the needs of the business

  • Law firm or global in-house counsel legal department work experience preferred
  • Experience practicing law in engineering, automotive supply, or similar fields preferred
  • Experience with and exposure to corporate compliance, labor & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance across a broad range of corporate, compliance, and employment-related matters
  • Advise HR and leadership on labor and employment issues, including employee relations, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s compliance programs, ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Conduct risk assessments and support compliance reporting, audits, and internal reviews
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to support business operations
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, including directly handling claims, disputes, settlement discussions, and related case strategy where appropriate, and coordinating with external counsel as needed
  • Coordinate with insurers, insurance-appointed counsel, brokers, and other external stakeholders regarding claims, coverage issues, settlement authority, reporting obligations, and dispute-related matters
  • Review, draft, and support corporate governance documents and proceedings, including board resolutions, member consents, meeting minutes, approval documents, and materials related to board meetings, member meetings
  • Develop and deliver legal and compliance training to employees and leadership
  • Establish and maintain legal procedures and documentation to support audits, investigations, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to proactively identify legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel, including oversight of performance, scope, and cost
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality legal work product across all assigned matters
  • Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance and engagement with business teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
