About The Position

This role involves assisting the Head of Legal in a fast-paced sales-led business. The primary responsibilities include leading the negotiation and drafting of customer contracts, working closely with the EMEA and US Sales teams. The role also entails interpreting the legal and contract responsibilities of the business and assisting in their implementation, as well as negotiating, advising on, and assisting with supplier agreements. Additionally, the Senior Legal Counsel will collaborate with the Compliance, InfoSec, and data protection teams.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor or Barrister.
  • Exceptional post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written as well as spoken form.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience of working in a payroll, SAAS technology environment.
  • Prior experience of working in an international business, particularly with a focus on the US.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the global sales team in new business activities, including assisting in the RFP process and initial engagement with customers.
  • Negotiating and drafting contracts with prospects, customers, partners, and vendors, requiring an understanding of business requirements and consultation with stakeholders like Service Delivery, Compliance, and Marketing.
  • Drafting and negotiating bespoke agreements to support new projects across the business.
  • Working with sales and commercial teams on renewals and amendments for the existing customer base.
  • Delivering appropriate training and supporting documentation to the sales team.
  • Developing and implementing end-to-end contract management processes and legal documentation storage.
  • Instructing and maintaining relationships with external counsel as required.
  • Ensuring the business is kept up-to-date with changes in law and that contractual arrangements reflect these changes.
  • Providing general expertise and guidance on specific contractual issues and disputes.
  • Reviewing leases and advising on their terms and negotiation.
  • Providing support on projects.
  • Supporting other Senior Legal Counsel team members.
  • Performing other ad-hoc duties as requested.
