About The Position

This role combines two core areas: Senior Legal Counsel (Legal Business Partner and Regional counsel) and Regional Compliance Lead. As Senior Legal Counsel, the individual will act as a dedicated legal partner to the North America (U.S and Canada) region and management in corporate governance related matters. This includes supporting the IT asset disposition (ITAD) and Lifecycle Services business line, with a primary focus on North America business, supporting sourcing related to ITAD service providing, commercial contracting, and operational legal needs. As Regional Compliance Lead, the individual will be responsible for regulatory monitoring and analyzing applicable federal and state regulations in the North America region, including emerging legislative and enforcement trends. This includes the localization and ongoing management of the Group’s compliance framework within the region, ensuring alignment with Group policies while addressing region-specific regulatory requirements in close coordination with and under the oversight of the Group Compliance function to ensure appropriate governance and independence of compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD), LL.M., and a law license in at least one U.S state
  • 5+ years of experience across: Commercial legal roles supporting technology, IT services, or ITAD
  • 5+ years of experience across: Compliance matters (preferably in regulated or international/EMEA environments)
  • 5+ years of experience across: Knowledge of leasing, financing, or asset-based business models
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canada sanctions and export control regimes
  • Strong knowledge of leasing and financing regulatory frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and ITAD-related regulations
  • Strong knowledge of data protection and privacy frameworks (including GDPR and U.S. / Canada laws)
  • Experience working within a matrix organization with EU/EEA governance structures
  • Commercially pragmatic and problem-solving legal advisor with business partnering capability
  • Ability to balance regulatory requirements with growth objectives
  • Strong knowledge or key regulatory business areas
  • Compliance mindset with the ability to operationalize frameworks in a business environment
  • Effective stakeholder management across regions and functions
  • High level of autonomy combined with strong alignment to Group governance

Responsibilities

  • Support general corporate governance, dispute resolution, claims, and escalation management in North America region.
  • Ensure contractual structures align with compliance, financing, and operational requirements.
  • Advise on legal risks related to asset ownership, chain-of-custody, data sanitization, and environmental liabilities.
  • Act as lead legal partner and sales support for ITAD and Lifecycle Services business lines and customer deals for N.A business units.
  • Support sourcing activities related to ITAD subcontractors, including vendor negotiations, supplier agreements, and partner onboarding.
  • Ensure legal agreements reflect applicable compliance requirements (e.g., export controls, environmental and privacy regulations).
  • Provide pragmatic legal advice aligned with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Ensure alignment with Group-approved templates and contractual guardrails.
  • Monitor and assess the business impact of U.S. and Canada federal/state regulations and emerging trends across key areas such as lease finance, privacy, environmental compliance (e.g., ITAD, e-waste), sanctions/export controls (OFAC, BIS), and AI.
  • Prioritize regulatory risks in line with business strategy, leveraging Group expertise and external advisors to implement scalable compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments for North America and coordinate mitigation with Group Compliance.
  • Operationalize and localize Group policies, controls, and frameworks to meet North American legal requirements while maintaining global consistency.
  • Implement the speak-up/whistleblowing program, including case management and investigations with HR and management.
  • Support data protection compliance (GDPR, U.S., and Canada frameworks such as CCPA) and localization of third-party due diligence, KYC/CDD, and supplier oversight.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for business units and local authorities.
  • Provide regular reporting to Group Compliance and ensure documentation, audit readiness, and regulatory traceability.
