Requirements

8+ years of legal experience at a technology company, a leading law firm, or a government agency.
JD or equivalent and admission to at least one state bar.

Experience advising on trust and safety or content moderation strategy.
Excellent communicator who is able to issue-spot and articulate complex and nuanced legal issues clearly and concisely to frontline business and engineering teams and senior executives alike.
Creative problem-solver who can drive projects and analyze and help resolve complex issues in innovative and practical ways.
Thrive in ambiguity and are passionate about building robust frameworks that allow for innovation while mitigating risks related to bias, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Best suited for a high energy, assertive, self-starter who loves technology and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
In-house experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide legal support for Apple’s artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML) technologies, products, and services.
Ensure AIML technologies are built and designed in compliance with an evolving global framework of laws and regulations.
Serve as the primary legal advisor on AI safety, content policy, and responsible and ethical AI development.
Support Responsible AI, Safety, IP, Privacy, Regulatory, and Engineering teams with a focus on safety by design of Apple models.
Proactively mitigate risks related to bias, data privacy, harmful content, child safety, and intellectual property.
Draft and refine terms of service and acceptable use policies.
Ensure compliance with global content regulations.
Provide legal oversight for adversarial testing (red teaming).
Manage high-stakes content escalations.
Collaborate on safety-by-design principles.
Ensure Apple’s AIML technologies remain safe, compliant, and trustworthy for users worldwide.
Protect Apple from content-related liabilities.
