About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive litigation support in a fast-paced, high-volume, paperless environment. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic and rewarding setting, demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, and enjoys managing a diverse caseload while supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation. Our collaborative and team-oriented legal support staff consists of 20 dedicated professionals who are passionate about insurance defense and committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients. The selected candidate will work remotely in support of our Brea, California office, while remaining an integral part of a supportive team that values professionalism, innovation, and continuous growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department is highly preferred
  • Tort experience in personal injury work is required
  • Experience in a high-volume litigation environment with experience in document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendar maintenance and data maintenance for clients
  • Strong working knowledge of California Court systems and be resourceful in looking up court rules
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with case management software
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys
  • Must be able to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF and JPG formats

Nice To Haves

  • Trial preparation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate software to timely prepare, e-file and serve (as appropriate) correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, deposition notice and other documents required by California courts and sometimes federal courts
  • Keeps attorney calendar current based on court notifications and depositions including scheduling of depositions and other events
  • Assists attorneys as needed in preparation for trial
  • Reviews electronic mail daily
  • Maintains our electronic legal files
  • Processes invoices for payment
  • Offers professional diplomacy during each interaction with clients, opposing counsel, attorneys, teammates, claim partners and court employees
  • Assists in overall support of the office as needed which could include: case matching, mail handling, filing in an electronic case management system, CD duplication, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, etc.
