About The Position

The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Division provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provide various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta. Join our dynamic team in the Public Legal Education & Information Unit where you can leverage your expertise to make a meaningful difference in public legal education. As a Senior Learning and Development Specialist, your role includes, but is not limited to, the following: Creation and delivery of high-quality and digital legal education products, including but not limited to e-courses, videos, webinars, animations, and audio scripts, aligned with the rules of court, legislative, and regulatory requirements. Creation and maintenance of responsive, accessible web content, and management of learning management systems using foundational coding skills such as: HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, and CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress or equivalent). Delivery of frontline technical support to a diverse user base by translating complex technical concepts into accessible guidance, while ensuring efficient resolution of system issues and a high-quality user experience. Ongoing consultation with judiciary, staff, supervisors, managers, directors, and other internal and external partners to support continuous improvement, alignment, and information sharing. Lead special projects and initiatives that contribute to enhanced quality of legal education services, programs, and directions.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure digital educations products are responsive to the needs of Albertans.
  • A proactive approach to researching and maintaining awareness of technological trends and issues impacting service delivery.
  • University graduation in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Social Sciences, etc.) plus four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining eLearning products and digital legal education materials for public audiences.
  • Experience developing learning pathways and implementing, administering, and managing a Learning Management System (LMS), including creating and maintaining accessible web content, graphic design, and coding.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Moodle, Articulate 360 (Storyline/Rise), or other learning management systems.
  • Work experience editing and producing video-based learning content.
  • Work experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design practices.
  • Work experience managing components of large projects from planning through delivery.
  • Written and oral communication skills in French.
