As part of Autonomy & Automation, you will join a growing and critical part of Caterpillar’s technology strategy and help our mining and construction customers address key business challenges. In this role, you will lead improvement projects and conduct financial analyses to assist leadership in managing strategic initiatives, long-term budget planning, capital investments, and annual business plans. This role will work with the global A&A organization to coordinate budget processes and report progress to leadership. This role will also be responsible for process improvement initiatives to streamline financial tracking, governance, and reporting including discounted cashflow analysis for non-major programs, dashboards, and financial databases.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational tactical and strategic planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee budget processes for the global engineering organization including long-term budget estimation and annual business plans.
  • Gather inputs from team members and process partners.
  • Support project prioritization and documentation of scope and deliverables.
  • Manage and monitor budget performance, create dashboards (PowerBI), and analyze data to provide insights to A&A leadership to assist in meeting department financial goals.
  • Manage process improvement projects using structured project management principles.
  • Negotiate deliverables and timelines with stakeholders.
  • Guide change management within the organization and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Manage capital asset acquisition and approval process across A&A and guide project leaders through the steps to ensure process conformance and requirements.
  • Prepare and present program level reports to upper management.
