About The Position

The Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process designs, develops, deploys, and optimizes manufacturing processes to achieve quality, cost, and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers’ products. The role focuses on final electro-mechanical assembly, including the final power box, and supports processes from prototype validation through volume production. The engineer develops process flows, tooling specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), PFMEAs, and production Control Plans. The role also provides Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback, coordinates engineering changes, manages manufacturing execution system routing, and drives lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. It serves as a technical liaison with customers and internal teams on mechanical fitment, routing, and final assembly engineering matters.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
  • At least 3 years of Process Engineering experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS).
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process flows, specify tooling, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for final electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Provide actionable Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to product design teams to support efficient assembly of the final power box.
  • Set up wire harness routing, cable management, connector mating, precision torque control, and automated fastening systems.
  • Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle, driving back-end assemblies from prototype validation through volume production and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PFMEAs and production Control Plans for manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Coordinate and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECNs), updating mechanical technical documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and operator work instructions.
  • Set up, configure, and manage product routing in shop floor software or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for final assembly operations.
  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen, 5S, cell design, line balancing, and continuous improvement of final assembly lines to maximize yield, reduce cycle time, and eliminate ergonomic risks.
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison, communicating with customers and internal teams to resolve mechanical fitment, routing, and final assembly engineering topics.
