Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Laser Modeling Physicist to independently guide the development, research, design, analysis, modeling, testing, and fielding of advanced laser technologies and systems. This role is within the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Directorate, which houses the world’s most energetic laser. The team recently achieved fusion ignition, opening new scientific frontiers. The physicist will provide technical direction to an interdisciplinary team developing and deploying state-of-the-art high-intensity, long and short pulse laser systems for the Department of Energy and LLNL. The work focuses on designing and modeling novel laser architectures and enhancing the capabilities of the National Ignition Facility (NIF). This position is in the NIF&PS Directorate within the Laser Science & Systems Engineering group. The position may be filled at either the SES.3 or SES.4 level, depending on the candidate's knowledge and experience.
