About The Position

Houston Landscapes Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Carpenter for its location in North Vancouver, BC. This is a full-time, permanent position with a 40-hour work week, offering a competitive hourly wage of $37.00 - $40.00, paid bi-weekly. The role involves leading carpentry aspects of landscape construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to project specifications. The company offers an employee benefit plan including health benefits after 6 months and two weeks of paid vacation annually.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Carpenter or a combination of relevant work experience and formal training.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift and carry heavy materials.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in environments that may include working at heights, in confined, noisy, and/or dusty conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and task planning skills.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials required.
  • Lead the execution of carpentry aspects of landscape construction projects, including decks, garden walls, walkways, stairs, retaining walls, water features, and outdoor structures.
  • Inspect existing structures and perform repairs or replacements of damaged framework, fixtures, and components using hand and power tools.
  • Measure, cut, and shape materials to required specifications with attention to quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proactively maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Provide guidance and technical directions to labourers or entry-level carpenters.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while following project specifications and timelines.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with established safety practices.
  • Complete daily records of work performed, including time and materials used.
