The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is responsible for sustaining the interests of Albertans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral resource systems. The Energy Operation division is responsible for leasing and maintaining Alberta’s Crown mineral rights and for calculating, assessing, collecting, and reconciling royalty revenues from natural gas, natural gas liquids, helium, conventional oil, oil sands, coal, and metallic and industrial minerals on behalf of Albertans. In addition, the division looks after Petrinex, which is a key volumetric reporting system for industry and western Canada. The Oil Sands, Coal and Minerals Operations branch is seeking a Senior Land Analyst to support the Oil Sands Tenure unit. Reporting to the Tenure Manager, the Senior Land Analyst is responsible for administering approximately 5,000 active oil sands agreements and supporting processes related to the disposition of Crown oil sands rights through public offerings and direct purchases. The role focuses on managing the lifecycle of oil sands leases, ensuring compliance with legislation and accurate records, and efficient resource management. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the responsible management of Alberta’s Crown oil sands mineral resources. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to apply legislation and policy in a complex environment.
