About The Position

Join NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as a Senior Laboratory Technologist in our Cytogenetics team. This role offers the opportunity to specialize in the latest techniques such as FISH and microarray testing using state-of-the-art equipment. You will perform tasks related to pre- and post-natal genetics and cancer genetics. Collaborating with top healthcare professionals, you will be encouraged to pursue continuous education and stay at the forefront of the genetics field. This position is full-time, day shift, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, with flexibility to cover occasional Saturdays as needed, located at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology or related field.
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department.
2 years experience as a Laboratory Technologist.
Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

ASCP certification (preferred but not required).
Proficiency in FISH techniques, fluorescence microscopy, and imaging systems.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accuracy in a high-complexity, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Perform all aspects of FISH Wet lab procedures, including general lab maintenance and reagent inventory.
Perform FISH analysis on all specimen types including BM/PB, FFPE and fresh tissue.
Communicate results effectively to supervisors, pathologists, or clinical laboratory directors as required.
