  • Master's degree in a science-related field; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks.
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze fluid and tissue samples using established laboratory techniques
  • Prepare and maintain media, cultures, reagents, stains, and solutions
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Track, store, and distribute specimens for analysis
  • Support different phases of scientific research projects
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and data using computer systems
  • Monitor inventory and ensure lab supplies are stocked and organized
  • Follow safety, quality, and compliance standards at all times
  • Train and guide students, lab assistants, and junior team members
  • Stay current by participating in trainings, workshops, and continuing education opportunities
