About The Position

This role involves performing testing of serum/plasma according to defined instructions to ensure conformance to customer requirements. The Senior Lab Technician will conduct assay and machine QC, and perform testing on all analyzers as per instructions. This position requires the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. Key duties include assisting with projects and production, cleaning, preparing and diluting samples, weighing, and solution preparations. The role also entails performing daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on analyzers, DI water systems, and general lab equipment. Responsibilities include downloading data from analyzers, exporting data to the server, analyzing test results, and making decisions on the next steps. The technician will also be responsible for organizing hard copy data, training new personnel, writing basic pilot formulations, testing pilots to meet customer specifications, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Proficient in arithmetic and must be able to calculate ratios to perform conversions.
  • Must understand the metric system and be able to do conversions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions accurately.
  • Must be extremely organized and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English and have an ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, manuals and instructions is required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to communicate with both new employees and senior staff.
  • Must have a theoretical understanding on how the analyzers function.
  • Must have some mechanical knowledge to solve minor issues with the equipment.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word and DYMO labeling program.
  • A Bachelor degree in a biological, chemical or other related physical or life science field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in IVD manufacturing.
  • Similar work experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing functions including sample preparation, dilutions and testing
  • Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and QC
  • Calibrate assays on all analyzers
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and exercise safe work practices
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Follow SOPs and instructions for use
  • Assist in maintaining inventory
  • Communicate with Technical support to resolve analyzer issues
  • Work independently on assigned projects
  • Export testing results to the appropriate testing folder in a timely manner
  • Analyze testing results and make decisions on a path forward
  • Organize the hard copy data
  • Train new personnel
  • Write basic pilot formulations and test the pilots to see if they meet customer specifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned
