About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Laboratory Assistant to join our Histology team in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible and accountable for the successful completion of specific department duties, working with and directing less experienced staff, and prioritizing workload and/or special projects on a daily basis. The Senior Lab Assistant oversees and reviews the work of peers, and oversees the training of new employees to ensure it is completed as scheduled. They independently coordinate the timely development and completion of training materials, checklists, and competency assessment programs, seeking and promoting expertise in the department and across sites to ensure a consistent approach to training. This role serves as an expert in all facets of trained workstations in the area of responsibility and responds to problems or questions of department staff. The Senior Lab Assistant reviews, revises, or writes laboratory SOPs, consulting management on an as-needed basis and keeping them informed of progress. They independently introduce and develop improvement ideas and help the group with implementation. They also participate in teams and committees representing the lab assistant group. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree; experience may be substituted for education.
  • 7 years of experience in a similar position, or 3 years of Labcorp CLS experience in the laboratory.
  • Excellent customer service skills include attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate customer service needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) relating to procedures for sample receipt, transfer and storage.
  • Independent judgment skills.
  • Experience with office software applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related science field
