Senior ITS Engineer
About The Position
Dewberry is seeking a Senior ITS Engineer for its Fairfax, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; or Richmond, Virginia office. The role offers the opportunity to join a large team of traffic engineers and work on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) design projects for clients in the mid-Atlantic region and throughout the eastern United States. The engineer will lead ITS design for projects involving vehicle detection and surveillance systems, dynamic message signs, toll rate signs, toll gantries, and connected and autonomous vehicle technologies. The position includes opportunities to develop project management and client management skills while working on innovative projects. Flexible work hours and the ability to telework part time are offered. The projected salary range is $130,000–$175,000 annually; the range may vary based on skills, experience, location, and market conditions. Dewberry will not sponsor a new applicant for work authorization.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in ITS design and traffic engineering.
- Experience with MicroStation.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to monitor schedules and budgets.
- Ability to work in groups and lead and mentor traffic engineers.
- Ability to effectively develop new business.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with VDOT, MDOT, and/or design-build projects.
- Project management and leadership skills.
- Electrical design experience.
- Working knowledge of VDOT and/or MDOT standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and perform ITS-related tasks.
- Lead and mentor a group of traffic engineers.
- Collaborate with roadway, structures, hydraulics, and environmental groups within the Transportation business unit.
- Prepare scopes of work, schedules, and fee proposals.
- Meet with clients.
- Participate in business development.
