About The Position

OBXtek is currently staffing for a Senior IT Systems/Network Engineer, supporting the Army’s United Network Modernization (UNM) organization. This role involves providing technical reviews of engineering design and implementation plans for network infrastructure modernization projects, overseeing LAN/MAN/WAN survey, design, and implementation, and offering technical leadership in the integration and testing of complex large-scale integrated networks. The engineer will also assist in developing new emerging technical network architectures, standards, and specifications, and analyze and assess LAN/MAN/WAN network hardware, providing technical recommendations. Evaluation of current or emerging network technologies considering factors like cost, maturity, compatibility, or usability is also a key responsibility. The position requires providing technical direction for IT projects, leading collaborative efforts with developers and partner organizations to develop prototype solutions, and consulting on optimal cloud solutions. This includes evaluating environments for migration, working in sandboxes, and architecting solutions tailored to Army needs, ensuring alignment with existing Army projects. The engineer will provide technical guidance and implementation priorities to implementation teams, coordinate technical execution of transformation projects, and deconflict designs. Additionally, they will design, develop, and implement an Enterprise data management solution, direct customer engagements to determine requirements and provide technical updates, and provide assessments of infrastructure modernization costs and design concepts. Verification of system architecture stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability, and collaboration with software developers to select appropriate design solutions are also expected. The role involves identifying required information communications technology (ICT) infrastructure components, analyzing the integration and operation of complete ICT infrastructure components and systems, and investigating system component suitability. Developing or approving project plans, schedules, or budgets, defining and analyzing objectives and impact of ICT infrastructure, and establishing standards to ensure operational and quality requirements are met are also part of the duties. Evaluation of existing infrastructure for effectiveness and suggestions for improvements, as well as research, testing, and verification of patches and fixes, are required. Communication of project information through presentations, technical reports, or white papers, and analysis or prediction of system performance under different operating conditions are also key aspects of the role. Support for the TMD lead is also required.
