We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems that support critical biotech operations. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of IT infrastructure used in research, development, and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with an understanding of regulated environments, enabling seamless integration of IT systems with scientific workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering within regulated or biotech environments.
  • Proven experience with virtualization, cloud platforms, and automation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and storage systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, identity management, and security protocols.
  • Understanding of GxP compliance and validated systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under deadlines.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in data center environments and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible work hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in MCSE, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise server environments (Windows, Linux, VMware) supporting laboratory and production systems.
  • Implement robust monitoring, patching, and performance optimization to meet compliance and uptime requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve system availability and disaster recovery for GMP and GxP environments.
  • Automate system provisioning and configuration using modern tools and scripting.
  • Deploy and manage hybrid cloud architectures (Azure) for secure data storage and analysis.
  • Support cloud migration projects for bioinformatics and data-intensive applications.
  • Ensure compliance with data integrity and security standards in cloud environments.
  • Apply security best practices aligned with FDA, EMA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct system audits and implement remediation plans for compliance gaps.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain validated systems and documentation.
  • Lead technical projects involving system upgrades, migrations, and integrations for laboratory and manufacturing systems.
  • Partner with scientists, automation engineers, and IT teams to deliver solutions that enable research and production workflows.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and administrators.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, validation protocols, and SOPs.
  • Generate reports on system performance, capacity planning, and compliance status.
