About The Position

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting of corporate server infrastructure, virtualization environments, backup systems, and Active Directory services. This role ensures the stability, security, and high availability of on-premises and hybrid infrastructure, providing Tier 2/3 support to resolve complex infrastructure problems. This role also leads smaller infrastructure projects such as upgrades or system migrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience in systems administration or engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory and Group Policy, Microsoft M365, and backup technologies.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell for automating tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and the ability to work under pressure calmly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times and contribute to a positive, professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet time commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability Remediation: Participate in vulnerability management processes and execute remediation steps, such as patching and configuration changes as directed.
  • Virtualization Management: Administer and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, ensuring optimal performance, including virtual server deployments.
  • Server Administration: Install, manage, and patch Windows and Linux physical and virtual servers.
  • Backup Systems and Disaster Recovery: Manage, monitor, and test backup solutions to ensure data integrity and restoration capabilities. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Active Directory (AD): Manage Active Directory Domain Services, including user/group accounts, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), organizational units (OUs), and AD security permissions. Manage Azure Active Directory/Entra ID integration.
  • Microsoft M365 Architecture: High level design and domain administration for Microsoft environment.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Act as an escalation point for Help Desk tickets and infrastructure support for other IT teams, providing root cause analysis and rapid resolution for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Project Execution: Lead smaller infrastructure projects; examples may include server OS upgrades, hypervisor migrations, backup system expansion, server hardware replacements.
  • System Optimization: Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource allocation to ensure system reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and system configurations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and support enterprise applications.
