About The Position

As a Senior Systems Engineer (Cloud + Network) at MKS, you will partner with IT Engineering, IT Architecture and Business to develop and support IT solutions. In this role, you will report to the cloud engineering and operations manager. This role is critical to the success of our cloud initiatives, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our infrastructure. You will play a key part in shaping our architectural direction, while also leading and mentoring team members to drive excellence across projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience AND 10+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering and cloud infrastructure, with demonstrated depth in both AWS (required) and Azure environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code proficiency using Terraform, including authoring, managing, and scaling modules across multi-cloud environments; experience with Landing Zone design and implementation required.
  • Cloud networking expertise across VPC/VNet design, routing, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, and private connectivity services (AWS Direct Connect / Azure ExpressRoute).
  • Hybrid and enterprise WAN connectivity, including SD-WAN, MPLS, and secure edge design with working knowledge of how cloud environments integrate into corporate WAN architectures.
  • Windows systems administration at an L3 support level, including performance troubleshooting, high availability configuration, and cross-platform incident resolution.
  • Cloud security and governance, including IAM policy design, network segmentation, compliance frameworks, and cost governance.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications in AWS, Azure, Microsoft, Terraform, or ITIL.
  • Linux systems administration at an L3 support level
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Compliance and FinOps practices.
  • Working knowledge of Python and AWS Lambda for cloud-native automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end — including requirements gathering, stakeholder management, and solution design across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define system requirements and design robust, scalable architectures.
  • Assess and modernize legacy designs with a focus on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable Cloud Landing Zones in AWS and Azure.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Provide L3-level technical support for cloud environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across AWS, Azure, Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Architect and support cloud networking, including VPC/VNet design, routing, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, and hybrid networking patterns.
  • Design and support integrations between cloud platforms and the corporate WAN, including SD‑WAN, MPLS, private connectivity, and secure edge design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance cloud solutions aligned with industry best practices.
  • Monitor systems for performance, cost efficiency, security, and compliance.
  • Support cloud migrations, optimizations, and enhancements of existing environments.
