Senior IT Product Manager, Accounting

Rubrik Job Board•Palo Alto, CA
•$163,200 - $244,800

About The Position

Rubrik’s IT team is moving the company’s enterprise from a traditional application stack to an intelligent one, with the goal of creating a “Thinking Enterprise” in which applications learn from data, act through agents, and improve with each decision. The team builds internal products used by Accounting, Controllership, and Tax, including tools that support the close and help ensure trustworthy financial results. The Senior IT Product Manager will lead the strategy and development of next-generation accounting capabilities, using an AI-first approach to redesign accounting processes rather than merely patch legacy systems. The role involves introducing agents, evaluations, and automation into real accounting workflows, while establishing appropriate human approvals and controls for audit-sensitive decisions. The manager will own the vision and roadmap from journal entry through financial statements, prototype concepts quickly, and partner with developers, AI architects, Internal Audit, and vendors to deliver scalable, SOX-compliant products. The role also leads user acceptance testing, training, adoption, and go-live activities.

Requirements

  • Prior experience building accounting or financial products at a product company on Oracle, SAP, or Workday Financials, as a product manager, product owner, or architect.
  • Hands-on delivery of AI-enabled or agentic workflows in an enterprise, with the ability to explain how a production module was decomposed, evaluated, and where the model was effective or not.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, including US GAAP and ASC 606, and the end-to-end close.
  • At least 8 years across product management, finance systems, or accounting operations in an enterprise, or a body of work demonstrating equivalent capability.
  • Track record of turning complicated accounting and finance problems into simple, scalable products.
  • SOX and audit fluency, and experience leading onsite/offshore delivery teams.
  • Comfort with AI tooling, including use of AI-assisted coding and low-code tools to prototype and test ideas quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to align Controllership, Tax, Accounting Operations, Internal Audit, and executive leadership, including CFO staff, behind a bold direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite, Xactly, and Blackline/FloQast.
  • Working knowledge of procure-to-pay (P2P) and order-to-cash (O2C).

Responsibilities

  • Lead product strategy for general ledger, close, intercompany, reconciliations, fixed assets, sub-ledger accounting, and commissions, rebuilding capabilities rather than patching existing systems.
  • Introduce agents, evaluations, and automation into accounting workflows with audit-level stakes.
  • Design how agents are built and tested by breaking accounting work into well-scoped steps, defining evaluations, and establishing human-in-the-loop checkpoints for approvals and audit-sensitive decisions.
  • Use first-principles thinking to reassess legacy close tasks and build replacement capabilities.
  • Own the vision and roadmap for next-generation accounting capabilities, from journal entry to financial statements.
  • Prototype quickly with AI tools to validate logic, data flows, and control points before engineering engagement.
  • Partner with onsite and offshore finance system developers, AI architects, Internal Audit, and vendors to turn prototypes into scalable, SOX-compliant products.
  • Lead user acceptance testing, training, and adoption through go-live and beyond.
