The Senior IT Database Administrator (Senior DBA) provides consultation on database management and administration. This role analyzes data flows and database and query designs to support efficiency, and administers database systems to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The Senior DBA maintains, controls, and tests complex databases; maintains query languages for established systems; designs and executes backup and recovery schemes; and implements disaster recovery procedures. The role also advises end-users and project teams on database management, query development, system requirements, and database change management, and provides technical guidance to other DBAs. The position deploys, configures, and maintains Snowflake instances across development, staging, and production environments. It provides technical consultation and leadership on database architecture, infrastructure, and large-scale technical solutions, and supports system security, disaster recovery, performance, and compliance. The role manages Snowflake databases and related resources, writes complex scripts, and participates in disaster recovery design, testing, and execution. Highly complex physical database changes may require work after hours. The position uses advanced SQL, Snowflake, Python, and cloud-platform administration skills, including AWS and Azure. It requires at least seven years of related experience as a Snowflake Administrator in AWS or a similar cloud data platform administration role, along with a related bachelor’s degree or equivalent additional related work experience. The position is hybrid, with schedules determined by role requirements and business needs, and the employee must be able to work on Eastern Standard Time.
