About The Position

Working as a part of Investor Relations (IR) and reporting to the Manager, Investor Relations, who reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is a key member of the Canadian Natural IR team, acting as a key liaison between senior management and shareholders, analysts and other stakeholders. This role is critical for the IR team’s timely and accurate disclosure and communication of the Company’s financial performance, strategy and value proposition, both internally and externally to the investment community. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of capital markets and the upstream oil and natural gas sector, with the ability to translate complex operational and financial information into clear investor‑focused messaging. Attention to detail, advanced computer skills and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and investors is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; CPA, CFA, or MBA considered an asset
  • 5 - 20 years of industry experience, with a background in investor relations, equity research, corporate finance/accounting, or capital markets experience (open to range of experience, where we will prioritize the ‘right’ fit for the team)
  • Strong understanding of the upstream oil and natural gas industry, including reserves, operations, cost structures, and commodity dynamics
  • Deep knowledge of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital markets
  • Experience with public company disclosure requirements and regulatory environments (e.g., TSX/NYSE, NI 51‑102, SEC reporting)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage senior executives and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, investor‑friendly messaging
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for institutional investors, sell-side equity research analysts, and other members of the investment community, ensuring they receive accurate and timely information
  • Coordinate and participate in investor meetings, site visits, roadshows and conferences (periodic travel will be required), ensuring accuracy/consistency of information presented and compliance with legal requirements
  • Support and advise senior management in preparing for and participating in earnings calls, conferences, and investor engagements
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality investor materials, including earnings press releases, corporate presentations, investor day materials, messaging documents, staff shareholder meetings, quarterly board meetings, annual meetings, other Company related meetings and the investor relations website
  • Clearly articulate the company’s strategy, capital allocation framework, ESG priorities, and long‑term value proposition
  • Monitor peer disclosures and industry trends to ensure competitive and best‑in‑class investor communications
  • Assist with quarterly and annual reporting processes, ensuring consistency of messaging across financial statements, MD&A, and investor materials
  • Coordinate preparation of earnings scripts, Q&A, and supporting analysis
  • Ensure compliance with securities regulations, continuous disclosure obligations, and corporate governance best practices
  • Track share performance, trading activity, ownership changes, and analyst coverage
  • Maintain detailed models and analysis related to valuation, consensus estimates, and peer benchmarking
  • Keep up to date on sell-side analyst research as it pertains to the Company and its peers
  • Provide senior leadership with insights and feedback from the investment community and capital markets
  • Work closely with Financial Reporting, Budget & Financial Planning, Public Affairs, and Operations teams to gather and validate information for disclosures
