About The Position

The Senior Investment Strategist leverages RBC's breadth of investment capabilities across Wealth Management and Capital Markets to provide strategic insights and guidance to Enterprise Strategic Clients within the Private Trading Office and Global Investment Office. This role shapes portfolio positioning and client outcomes by synthesizing global macroeconomic trends, geopolitical developments, and market dynamics into actionable recommendations. The Senior Investment Strategist enhances client conversations, supports portfolio construction decisions, and strengthens RBC's advisory approach, enabling sophisticated clients to navigate complexity, identify opportunity, and achieve their investment objectives in a competitive marketplace. The Private Trading Office is a multi-billion-dollar bespoke brokerage business within RBC Dominion Securities offering global investment advisory and trade execution services to sophisticated Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients, family offices, and Enterprise Strategic Clients (ESC). Strategically aligned with the ESC group while operating as a regulated entity on the RBC Dominion Securities platform, Private Trading delivers integrated capital markets and wealth management capabilities designed to serve RBC's most valued clients through a seamless, client-centered approach.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of investment strategy, research, or portfolio management experience, with demonstrated expertise in multi-asset analysis and client-facing strategy development.
  • Deep knowledge of equities, fixed income, alternatives, and other asset classes, with the ability to synthesize across markets and identify cross-asset opportunities.
  • Strong track record of developing actionable, forward-looking recommendations backed by rigorous analysis and sound judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial modeling, portfolio analytics tools, and investment management systems.
  • Proven experience serving or advising ultra-high-net-worth clients, institutional investors, or family offices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive multi-asset research and analysis to identify attractive opportunities, emerging risks, and thematic trends across global markets and asset classes.
  • Develop and communicate compelling investment strategies and tactical recommendations tailored to ultra-high-net-worth client profiles, risk tolerances, and objectives.
  • Monitor macroeconomic indicators, central bank policy, geopolitical events, and market valuations to provide timely, value-added market commentary and positioning guidance.
  • Collaborate with the ESCG Global Investment Office Investment Committee and PTO trading team to translate strategy into portfolio implementation and ensure seamless client execution.
  • Produce high-quality written and visual materials—including market outlooks, strategy presentations, and client briefings—that distill complex analysis into clear, persuasive narratives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external thought leaders, economists, and market experts to stay at the forefront of investment thinking and emerging opportunities.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships across the enterprise to drive business growth, explore solutions to address evolving client needs, and solve complex issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with Investment Strategy teams across Capital Markets, DS, and GAM to identify how private and public market investments can enhance the ESCG PTO and GIO offering.
