About The Position

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is a Department of War (DoW) organization focused exclusively on accelerating the adoption of commercial technology throughout the military and growing the national security innovation base. As the Department’s gateway to leading technology companies across the country, DIU is focused on rapid prototyping, fielding, and scaling of commercial solutions that can save lives, lead to new operational concepts, increase efficiency, and save taxpayer dollars. DIU has a variety of missions which bring academic and private sector solutions to national security problems. To accomplish this mission, we seek a wide variety of backgrounds including military experience, high technology product development and leadership, operations expertise, and general program management experience. As a Senior Investment Strategist, you will serve as a critical bridge between commercial finance and defense innovation. In this highly analytical and execution-focused role, you will apply private equity-style turnaround methodologies to optimize our financial and operational footprint. By leveraging your expertise in capital allocation, financial modeling, and valuation, you will maximize budget efficiency, accelerate the transition of high-potential technology to the warfighter, and salvage strategic value from stalled, high-risk initiatives.

Requirements

• 3 to 7+ years of experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, Venture Capital, or corporate development.
• Exceptional quantitative skills.
• Proven track record of managing complex financial portfolios.
• Ability to navigate the intersection of commercial capital markets and national defense priorities.
