About The Position

The Senior Investigator, External Investigations protects the organization by leading complex, high-risk investigations that safeguard company assets and ensure program integrity. This role is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and confidential investigations involving theft, fraud, and policy violations by non-employees and travel agencies. The position encompasses both proactive and reactive investigative efforts, leveraging intelligence and data to identify and mitigate risk. In addition, the Senior Investigator serves as a subject matter expert and key stakeholder, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives and strengthening investigative standards across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience investigating theft and fraud
  • Strong investigative capabilities, including interviewing, evidence analysis, fact development, and report writing
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Legal and key stakeholders within a regulated environment
  • 2+ years of experience conducting internal, corporate, or regulatory investigations
  • Ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and risk indicators across cases.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in sensitive, high-impact matters.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree
  • Professional certifications such as CFE or equivalent
  • Proficiency with dBeaver SQL or other relational database tools
  • Working knowledge of ticketing and revenue accounting processes
  • Experience with reservation systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel, and Word

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute complex investigations involving theft, fraud, and policy violations, including matters related to Electronic Travel Certificates, the MileagePlus program, travel agencies, and the Contract of Carriage
  • Manage high-volume engagement with customers, members, and external parties—including travel agents and mileage brokers—via phone, email, and written correspondence to gather evidence and resolve investigative matters
  • Assess and validate the creditworthiness of new travel agencies prior to authorizing the sale of company inventory
  • Adapt and refine Data Warehouse queries to support evolving investigative needs, and recommend new queries based on emerging trends and risk patterns
