About The Position

Bloomberg is seeking an Experienced UX Designer to drive the early ideation and execution of enhancements to BQuant, a Python-based data science platform. BQuant enables financial professionals to perform financial analysis at scale by combining Python, cloud computing, Bloomberg's proprietary data, and APIs. The role involves evolving the BQuant user experience to meet changing customer needs and expectations, especially with the rise of AI. The designer will work on a variety of user problems, including managing compute usage, integrating AI code assistants, application publishing workflows, and API design. This position offers the opportunity to shape the longer-term vision for the product, collaborate closely with engineers, lead user research, and explore cross-platform synergies within Bloomberg's product ecosystem. The role also encourages applying new technologies to improve the design process and shaping both programmatic and graphical interfaces.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in several of the following: user research, designing for complex user workflows, service design, product design, interaction design, UI and visual design, and prototyping.
  • Familiarity with core concepts and interaction design challenges related to cloud computing and IDEs.
  • A track record of applying standard User-Centered research and design practices and tools to solve challenging design problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Curiosity and aptitude to extensively research existing and emerging best practices in the field of HCI/UX.
  • Enthusiasm for shaping the user experience across all product surfaces, not just graphical interfaces.
  • Portfolio showcasing two design projects with artifacts from across the full project lifecycle (user research, personas, sketches, user journeys, task flows, wireframes, storyboards, success metrics, etc.).
