This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source, and our clients are digitizing existing plants and building new ones, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), due to increasing demand for electric power. This has led to an expansion in our Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group. Sargent & Lundy has a need for additional I&C Engineers to support this influx of work. This position provides an opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of instrumentation and control systems for new and existing power plants. You will tackle challenging projects involving investigation, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical controls engineering issues. Key areas of focus include Digital Systems Design Development (PLC, DCS, Touchscreens, network switches, control systems), developing functional requirements and procurement specifications for control systems, designing mechatronics and control systems for various power plant equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, reactors) to enhance functionality, conducting critical digital asset cyber assessments, participating in client meetings and site walkdowns, assisting project managers with project completion, preparing and reviewing detailed calculations (scaling, uncertainty, setpoint), interfacing with vendors for document reviews and purchase specifications, preparing technical reports, performing independent reviews of engineering work, enhancing careers through professional Communities of Practice, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
