About The Position

We are looking for a senior-level Injection Molding Process Technician to handle mold setups, process adjustments, troubleshooting, and production support in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills to maintain consistent part quality, resolve production issues, and improve process reliability while working alongside a senior technical advisor.

Requirements

  • Injection Molding – 5+ years of hands-on injection molding experience or equivalent demonstrated technical competency, including independent mold changes, machine setup, startup, processing, and troubleshooting; 7 to 10+ years of experience, particularly in a Senior Technician, Lead Technician, Process Technician, Setup Technician, or comparable advanced molding role preferred
  • Process Knowledge – Strong understanding of injection molding fundamentals, machine parameters, process variables, and common molding defects
  • Materials & Auxiliary Equipment – Experience with thermoplastic materials, proper material handling and drying, and common injection molding auxiliary systems
  • Mechanical & Technical Troubleshooting – Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify root causes and resolve equipment or process issues within the appropriate technical scope
  • Manufacturing Documentation – Ability to interpret part drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and technical manufacturing documents, as well as document process conditions and communicate technical information clearly
  • English/Spanish bilingual ability is an advantage but is not required if effective technical communication can otherwise be demonstrated
  • Experience operating a forklift safely; current certification preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain company-required certification
  • Ability to safely perform the physical tasks associated with mold setup, equipment adjustment, troubleshooting, material handling, and production support

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Leadership – Experience coaching or mentoring junior technicians and production operators, and/or leading technical projects preferred
  • Process Improvement – Background in process optimization, scrap reduction, cycle-time improvement, and root-cause analysis preferred
  • Automation & Support Systems – Familiarity with robots or pickers, dryers, chillers or thermolators, hot runners, material-handling systems, and related auxiliary equipment preferred
  • Custom Manufacturing – Experience managing technical requirements across multiple machines, molds, materials, and production priorities in a custom manufacturing setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute mold changes, installation, machine setup, startup, shutdown, and production changeovers
  • Configure and fine-tune processing conditions, including temperatures, pressures, speeds, packing, cooling, clamp force, and cycle settings
  • Confirm readiness of machines, molds, materials, auxiliary equipment, and process conditions before production
  • Safely bring molding processes to stable production following setups or interruptions
  • Maintain consistent processing conditions and document validated machine and mold settings
  • Identify and resolve molding defects, including flash, short shots, burns, splay, sink marks, warpage, dimensional inconsistencies, and part sticking
  • Investigate process issues involving materials, tooling, machinery, auxiliary systems, and operating methods
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, core-pull, heating, cooling, material-handling, and basic electrical or control issues within the role's scope
  • Determine when issues require support from Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, or external technical specialists
  • Address downtime and recurring production problems through safe, lasting corrective solutions
  • Improve process consistency, cycle times, scrap rates, and equipment uptime
  • Support new mold introductions, material changes, process trials, initial production runs, and process validation
  • Help document established machine and mold settings and transfer technical knowledge into repeatable procedures
  • Work with Production and Quality teams to maintain product conformance and verify initial production parts
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and implement appropriate process adjustments without compromising quality or stability
  • Communicate technical findings and production concerns to relevant teams and leadership
