About The Position

Slash is a technology company on a mission to build the best engineering team in the world. They are seeking a Senior Infrastructure/Platform Engineer to own and scale the foundation of their banking platform during a period of rapid growth. This role involves ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and fast, while also building the necessary tooling and infrastructure to enable the engineering team to operate efficiently. The engineer will work extensively with cloud technologies such as AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes. Key responsibilities include defining the infrastructure roadmap, making critical decisions related to performance, observability, security, and deployment, and playing a vital role in enabling Slash to securely and reliably handle billions of dollars in business spend.

Requirements

• 2-3+ years of experience shipping high-quality infrastructure for critical, high-availability systems
• Production experience in AWS (EKS, ALB, MSK, ElastiCache, S3, WAF, VPC networking)
• Proficiency in TypeScript or another object-oriented language
• An ability to think through internal engineering requirements and come up with high-impact ways to quickly unblock teams
• Deep experience in large-scale distributed SQL database administration (e.g. CockroachDB, PostgreSQL)
• Deep experience in real-time workflow and queue systems (e.g. Temporal)
• Deep experience in container orchestration and service infrastructure (Kubernetes/EKS, load balancing, ingress, service mesh)

Responsibilities

• Influence and implement the next generation of Slash's database, real-time workflow, and container orchestration infrastructure
• Scale and evolve our Kubernetes (EKS) platform, CockroachDB clusters, Kafka (MSK), Temporal workflows, and ElastiCache Redis as we grow through hypergrowth
• Work across engineering to introduce and scale best practices with cloud-native technologies like AWS ALB, WAF, Route 53, OpenSearch, S3, and Vercel
• Build and maintain abstractions within Terraform and Pulumi to simplify architecture, increase velocity, and push ownership to product teams
• Improve the speed and reliability of our CI/CD pipeline
• Find solutions to Slash's toughest scaling, performance, and low-latency problems across a monolithic deployment serving burst financial traffic
