Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Developer Platform

Vantaca + HOAi•Palo Alto, CA

About The Position

HOAi is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for its Developer Platform. The role owns the path from an engineer’s commit to a safe production change, making that path fast, dependable, and trustworthy across engineering pods. It includes building release infrastructure for AI products so changes to prompts, model versions, and agent configurations can be reviewed, tested, and reversed with the same rigor as code changes. The engineer will own CI/CD and build performance, deployment and release safety, AI release infrastructure, safe database migrations, developer environments and tooling, and build/deploy supply-chain security. The role also documents architecture and operational procedures, mentors engineers, and works to improve developer experience across the organization. Success is measured through deployment frequency and lead time, change failure rate and time to restore, CI duration and flakiness, new-hire time to first production merge, developer satisfaction, and coverage of evaluation and security scanning in the release path. The role partners closely with the Cloud & Reliability role; deep database query optimization and production on-call ownership of cloud infrastructure are not required. HOAi was acquired by Vantaca in fall 2024. This position offers remote flexibility, with office attendance when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or developer experience engineering.
  • Experience owning CI/CD for a meaningful codebase, with quantifiable improvements to build or deployment time.
  • Experience building or substantially operating a deployment pipeline with progressive rollout and rollback.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, including comfort writing code rather than only configuration.
  • Working knowledge of zero-downtime database migration patterns and the failure modes they prevent.
  • Supply-chain security knowledge, including dependency scanning, secret scanning, and credential scoping in CI.
  • Experience with a cloud platform; AWS is preferred.
  • Ability to treat internal engineers as customers, solicit feedback, and communicate technical concepts across teams.
  • Ability to take initiative, work with ambiguity and changing priorities, and balance velocity with quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with monorepo tooling and build caching at scale.
  • Experience in the JVM ecosystem, including Kotlin and Gradle.
  • Experience building test or evaluation infrastructure for nondeterministic systems.
  • Experience with feature-flag and experimentation infrastructure.
  • Prior experience with developer experience as a primary mandate.

Responsibilities

  • Own CI/CD pipelines end to end, improving build and test times, parallelization, and the trustworthiness of pipeline results.
  • Own the promotion path from development to production, including deployment mechanics, progressive rollouts, feature flags, and reliable rollback.
  • Build versioning, A/B testing, and rollout infrastructure for prompts, models, and agent configurations; integrate evaluation harnesses into CI to catch behavioral regressions.
  • Own tooling and review processes for zero-downtime schema migrations, including blocking-lock detection, migration review automation, and surfacing slow queries to the responsible pod.
  • Own local and ephemeral developer environments, developer onboarding time, and internal tooling that enables engineers to ship AI features safely without infrastructure expertise.
  • Secure the build and deploy path through dependency and CVE scanning, secret scanning, SAST integration, artifact provenance, and least privilege for CI runners and deployment credentials.
  • Document architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor engineers on platform tooling and improve capability across engineering pods.
  • Gather feedback from internal engineers and use it to guide platform improvements.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and build scalable solutions; communicate technical concepts clearly and proactively address problems.
