About The Position

At BAE Systems, we deliver a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions, and customer support services. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Infrared Optical Test Engineer with experience supporting circuit card assemblies and modules. The candidate would be responsible for production testing of IR and optical modules and circuit card assemblies. This position is first shift on a 9/80 work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of overall engineering and manufacturing experience including experience using RF measurement and test equipment such as power meters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers
  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and be able to work cross-functionally within the operations organization and with other disciplines/functions.
  • Problem solving capabilities and experience using metrics and data to drive actions
  • Proven track record of solving/ troubleshooting complicated production issues and/or driving yield improvements
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 7+ years experience using IR/optical/laser measurement and test equipment including power meters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers, to debug to the component level in circuit cards, and to troubleshoot test systems and drive improvements
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience with Circuit card assemblies; Test, Design, troubleshoot
  • Performs preliminary Material Review / Material Review Board (PMR/MRB) for the disposition of discrepant material
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) Data Collection and Analysis
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action methodology
  • IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain test processes, work instructions, routes, and assembly documentation.
  • Identify and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) that impact test processes.
  • Support test-related factory safety, ergonomics, 7S, and environmental compliance through assessments and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) and process qualification plans (PQP).
  • Train operators, technicians, and junior engineers and provide daily technical support on process execution and issue resolution.
  • Create drawings for, and procure, fixtures, tools, and test aids.
  • Perform validations on test equipment.
  • Drive equipment moves and factory transitions, coordinating MEP needs and production readiness.
  • Drive root cause investigations and lead implementation of corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).
  • Oversee capital projects and manage procurement activities for test resources.
  • Lead / support Transition to Production (site relocations and NPI) efforts in the factory.
  • Represent the test team in audits, CAB meetings, and customer engagements.
