Senior Information Systems Security Engineer

Accenture Federal Services•Reston, VA

About The Position

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to safeguard digital assets and sensitive information. The role contributes to the design, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity infrastructure, with a focus on containerized environments, service mesh technologies, and microservices. The engineer designs and manages security controls for containerized workloads, integrates security into CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows, and supports compliance with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, and FedRAMP requirements. The position monitors network traffic, logs, and alerts; investigates anomalies and incidents; evaluates threat intelligence and risks; and conducts security assessments of container platforms, microservices, and APIs. It collaborates with platform engineers, ISSOs, developers, IT, and compliance teams to incorporate security throughout the system lifecycle. The role also develops incident response plans and maintains accurate security architecture, control, configuration, and continuous-monitoring documentation, including reports on findings and incidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a cybersecurity engineer, including designing and building implementations of required security controls and implementing continuous monitoring and auditing for security-control compliance.
  • Hands-on experience securing containerized and Kubernetes environments; OpenShift is preferred.
  • Strong skills specifying and implementing log collection into tools such as Splunk, and querying and analyzing aggregated logs to identify security-relevant anomalies or risks.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing security controls based on standards and frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ICD 503, FISMA, and FedRAMP, and implementing continuous monitoring and auditing for compliance.
  • Experience implementing controls for cloud, container, and DevSecOps services and solutions within IL5 to IL6+ environments.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
  • Active TS//SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • US work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in incident response, security incident handling, and forensic analysis techniques.
  • Experience with security tools such as Fortify, Acunetix, and Prisma Cloud.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • CISSP or equivalent certification to support DoD 8140 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a security engineering subject matter expert for containerized environments, service mesh technologies, and microservices.
  • Design, implement, and manage security controls for containerized workloads, including image scanning, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, endpoint protection, encryption, runtime protection, role-based access control, and network segmentation.
  • Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows and support compliance with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, and FedRAMP requirements.
  • Configure and optimize security monitoring and logging solutions and work with container security tools such as Prisma Cloud or similar tools.
  • Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to detect and respond to potential security incidents.
  • Analyze and investigate anomalies and security breaches and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and assess threat intelligence feeds, conduct threat analysis, and perform risk assessments to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, ISSOs, developers, and other cross-functional teams to establish, embed, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular security assessments of container orchestration platforms, microservices, and APIs; identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses; and recommend mitigations.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches, incidents, and other security concerns.
  • Work with IT, software development, and compliance teams to integrate security into all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Maintain documentation of security architecture processes, control implementation procedures, configurations, and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on security findings, incidents, and actions taken.
  • Perform periodic daily, weekly, and monthly security checks to support continuous monitoring.
