About The Position

ARC'TERYX is experiencing significant growth across guest experience, business models, operational volume, global markets, and advanced workflows. The Technology group and its architecture practice are crucial for supporting and accelerating this expansion. Information Architecture, when executed effectively, is fundamental to informing and enabling innovative solutions and workflows. This involves experienced professionals who excel at creating intuitive information structures that enhance processes and inter-system communication. Developing robust information models and ensuring seamless information access in a dynamic environment, while collaborating with diverse teams from product owners to developers, is central to this practice. This role seeks a candidate to advance the enterprise architecture practice by applying an information architecture perspective to end-to-end solutions and systems strategy for the global business. The ideal candidate views information not as static but as dynamic, representing the communication and vocabulary between business domains and their underlying systems. This role can be remote, with candidates committed to Pacific time zone hours aligned with the ARC'TERYX headquarters in North Vancouver, B.C. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years in engineering roles of increasing responsibility and sophistication, including prior experience as an enterprise or information architect.
  • Experience designing and implementing IT foundational capabilities in areas such as application integration, identity and access management, APIs and event schemas, and shared platform design and operation.
  • Direct design and demonstrated experience in application domains such as supply-chain, eCommerce, marketing technology, warehousing/logistics, product lifecycle management and sustainability.
  • Demonstrated experience with architecture management tools and process.
  • Experience discovering needs and synthesizing viable architecture plans that solve cross-domain requirements and end-to-end flows.
  • Experience assessing current systems and flows as a springboard to informing and contributing to project solutions and strategy.
  • Experience with option synthesis, including trade-offs, required policies, risks, and best-fit recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skill and desire to guide and inspire IT engineering best practice and provide skills mentorship and career path guidance to members of the engineering guild.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire teams and stakeholders with a clear vision and innovative, logical plan of action.
  • Direct retail or adjacent domain experience at organization(s) providing premium products and user experiences aligned with brand promise.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees or certifications in technology leadership, cloud computing, or information architecture (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience with premium consumer digital experience with global deployment at scale (highly desirable).
  • Direct experience with LeanIX (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Creating scoped conceptual and logical architectures for product leaders, including trade-offs, policy adherence, risk advisement, and alignment with group and global platform strategy.
  • Documenting and developing business domain information structures in collaboration with enterprise architecture to ensure accessibility and usability in new projects and ongoing operations.
  • Designing and refining interface definitions and data exchange schemas in partnership with Omnichannel Platform domain teams, aligning related application designs, roadmaps, and tool choices for superior business event and service consumption.
  • Enhancing the Data Platform and informing physical data architecture from conceptual and logical information architecture, expressing Arc'teryx end-to-end business domains and process flow, in partnership with the Data & Analytics team.
  • Providing subject-matter expertise and ownership to build the architecture modeling practice using LeanIX tools, with a focus on relating business data models to applications and business capability management.
