About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist for its Birmingham, Alabama Industrial Hygiene (IH) team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced IH expert with extensive knowledge of chemical exposure assessments, noise surveys, asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous materials, indoor air quality/mold consulting, and compliance tasks. This role offers collaboration on diverse projects, opportunities for professional growth, and requires overnight travel and a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in science
12+ years in consulting or professional services
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations related to asbestos and mold
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
RCRA/DOT Hazardous Waste Shipping Training
Alabama asbestos licensing is required
Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

Communicate with agencies, management, staff, and subcontractors to define scope and schedule for projects.
Conduct high-level technical surveys and oversight of subcontractors.
Document field activities accurately using provided tools.
Review and evaluate field findings.
Interpret laboratory data and reports.
Prepare technical memorandums, summary reports, and other client deliverables.
Perform senior technical peer-reviews on reports.
Provide expertise and effective mentoring to staff.
