About The Position

Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an Senior Imagery Scientist (SAR)- to join our team in Springfield, VA. This role involves conducting applied image processing and advanced analysis of radar imagery, including both literal image interpretation and non-literal analysis. The scientist will support the development of analysis techniques for new signature and methodology development, collect and analyze data, and perform ad hoc analysis. A key aspect of the role is communicating complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner using storytelling/visualization. The position also requires creating, deploying, and maintaining automated workflows, processing pipelines, and tools to extract features, data, and metadata. Writing and maintaining Python scripts to improve production efficiency is also a responsibility. Additionally, the role involves contributing to customer organization mentorship and training on related phenomenology, processing, tools, and tradecraft, and collaborating with external mission partner organizations to support customer mission and analytic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • BS in image science, remote sensing, earth science, etc.
  • Experience, knowledge, and skill in processing & exploiting SAR data.
  • Active TS/SCI with ability to be approved for a Poly

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training & experience in remote sensing/earth science/etc.
  • IDL/Java/C++/VB/MATLAB/R/other.
  • Experience in using APIs.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Proficiency in Google Earth Engine, ESRI ARC Services, Tableau, Web Services Development.
  • Experience with ArcGIS.

Responsibilities
