•$100,000 - $135,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Identity Management Engineer will architect and build Steelcase’s next-generation identity platform, including phishing-resistant authentication, Conditional Access, and privileged access management. The role will lead the retirement of legacy identity technologies and directory services, including reducing reliance on legacy Active Directory and designing safe migration paths. It will also establish identity approaches for non-human actors such as service accounts, workloads, and AI agents, covering authentication, access scope, review, and revocation. The engineer will build automation and AI-assisted workflows for provisioning, privileged access, anomaly detection, and remediation; partner with HR, IT, application owners, and engineering teams to make secure access the default; mentor engineers; establish technical standards and patterns for the Identity Management Office; and evaluate emerging identity and security technologies through proofs of concept. The role requires substantial hands-on enterprise identity and access management experience, strong knowledge of modern authentication and authorization, and experience leading technical initiatives across teams. A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Steelcase will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

Requirements

  • Substantial hands-on experience designing, implementing, or operating enterprise identity and access management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of modern authentication and authorization, including SAML, OIDC/OAuth, FIDO2/passkeys, and directory services.
  • Drive to automate identity work and comfort working with APIs such as Microsoft Graph; the job posting emphasizes knowing what to automate and why over a particular implementation method.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing outcomes across teams without direct authority.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Steelcase will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

  • Experience applying Zero Trust principles in a large, global enterprise.
  • Experience helping an organization shrink or eliminate its reliance on legacy Active Directory.
  • Experience using AI or automation to streamline identity operations, authentication rollouts, or investigation work.
  • Certifications such as SC-300, CISSP, CIDPRO, or CCZT.
